Bali or Bust

We first flew to Kuala Lumpur and spent the night there. Our flight out from there wasn't till the next afternoon, so after we checked out of our hotel in the morning, we camped out at the airport. The boys were thrilled to see McDonalds so we ate breakfast there and played some games for a few hours. Then we walked down to a Malaysian style food court and played some more games and had some amazing fried rice for lunch before going through the check in process for our last flight.

The sun set just before we landed in Denpasar, Bali. Arrival was a breeze and we were soon at our hotel. We spent a day there before heading to Ubud, a delightful artsy town. Try imagining a tropical Ashville, though much much smaller. Despite the fact that there seemed to be about as many tourists as Indonesians, we had a wonderful time there.

We stayed at Gusti's Garden Bungalows, a little walk out of town but in a great quiet area, surrounded by lush green trees and a short walk from the rice fields. This is the view from our porch and we spent a good deal of time sitting out there, reading and drinking coffee.

Here we are, looking down from our porch.

More to come...
